July 2012
It is not every day that your work is inspected by Royalty, so we are incredibly proud to share images from a very special event held this week at London City Airport.
To mark the airport’s 25th Anniversary, and in a year that celebrates both Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited the terminal to meet staff and officially mark the occasion.
The Centrepiece of the Celebration
We were commissioned to manufacture the commemorative plaque that would stand as the permanent record of this Royal visit. For such a prestigious occasion, there was only one material choice: Traditional Polished Brass.
Our team crafted a bespoke Engraved Brass Plaque, deep-engraved and infilled with black enamel to ensure perfect legibility for decades to come. The plaque was mounted on a solid wood backboard to provide a fitting, dignified finish.
The Grand Reveal
No unveiling is complete without the element of surprise. To ensure the reveal went smoothly, we also supplied our specialist Ceremonial Unveiling Curtains.
For this event, the organisers opted for our Royal Blue velvet curtains (a fitting choice for the Diamond Jubilee year), mounted on our freestanding easel. As you can see from the press photography, the curtains operated perfectly, allowing Her Majesty to reveal the plaque with a simple pull of the cord.
A Proud Moment
At Premier Engraving, we treat every job with the same level of care, whether it is for a local parish council or a Royal visit. However, seeing our work unveiled by the Monarch is a true highlight in our company’s history.
If you are planning an opening ceremony, anniversary, or VIP visit, we can provide the complete solution, from the bespoke plaque to the ceremonial curtains, to ensure your event is fit for Royalty.
